roll up

Nearly a year ago, noted social marketing expert Craig Lefebvre began leading a charge to develop a global association dedicated to “promoting and improving the practice of social marketing across all sectors of human and social development.” Lefebvre and his partners have a broad and ambitious vision.  They are seeking to bring a highly diverse and widely dispersed group of social marketing practitioners together to exchange ideas, forge connections and – most importantly – get good stuff done.

Lefebvre and I share a common belief that encouraging broader collaboration by building tools, “workspaces” and structures for people seeking to work together is critical.

Lefebvre and his partners have already done an excellent job of getting a broad group of stakeholders together to make the global marketing association a reality.  However, they need financial support to take the next step.

The association is seeking to raise $20,000 over the next five weeks.  If this amount can be raised, a consortium of major organizations will chip in $30,000.  The association is asking individuals and organizations to pledge $300 or more to help get the organization off the ground.  These pledges will not only support the association, but demonstrate that there is “widespread support of a sustainable and creative association to foster and improve the practice of social marketing.”

To make your pledge, please:

1.    Send an e-mail to Kristina Dunlevy at kdunlevy [at] aed.org
2.    Put SMA pledge in the subject of the e-mail and your pledge amount in the body
3.    Please make your pledge before August 28, 2009

Please remember that you will be making a pledge to contribute.  If and when the goal is reached, you will be asked to mail your contribution to Dunlevy.

Support collaboration, knowledge sharing and taking action.  I’ve already made my pledge.  Make yours today.
