chatAs readers of this blog are aware, a few hundred people have joined the Path of the Blue Eye movement via Twitter, Facebook and e-mail since the project’s launch.  While this is a positive development, simply attracting people to the movement is only half the battle.  True success will only come if we can bring people together and help them forge valuable relationships with each other.

This is why I am thinking about launching what I’m calling “Path McLs.”  McL stands for “Meet, Chat and Learn.”  Here’s how they could work:

  • Every two weeks we would host a 45-minute McL via Webinar focusing on a hot health marketing communications-related topic
  • The Webinar topic will not be set in advance.  Instead, we will focus on an issue that receives the most votes from the Path of the Blue Eye community.  The topic will be announced 1 week before the McL is scheduled to begin
  • To keep the sessions productive, we’ll limit the number of participants to between 20 – 25 people
  • During the McL, participants will have the opportunity to introduce themselves via private chat
  • If 2 – 3 participants want to make a 3 – 5 minute presentation on the McL topic, they can let us know in advance and we’ll accommodate them
  • Each McL will be free of charge

I think McLs will provide members of our growing community with an opportunity to forge tighter bonds and learn from each other.  However, I don’t want to start something that will not gain traction.  So, I’m seeking your opinion.  Please vote on whether you’d participate in a McL in the survey that appears below.  If we get enough “yes” votes, we’ll plan the first session.  If you have suggestions on how we can improve or tweak the suggested format, please leave a comment below.

Why Not Do This on Twitter?

I’ve participated in a number of great health marketing communications related chats on Twitter, including #hcmktg.  However, I think McLs will provide value to people who may not be comfortable sharing certain information with a very large audience (or familiar with Twitter).  (Right now, my inclination is NOT to archive sessions so that people can feel more free to have candid or sensitive conversations.)

I look forward to hearing what you think about this idea.
