<itunes:summary>This episode of fyi: health marcomms marks the third of a special series of podcasts dedicated to the innovators who participated in our most recent unNiched(micro) event which was titled Scratch, Sniff & Learn. unNiched(micro) is a breakfast series dedicated to knowledge sharing among professionals, students, and educators within the health marketing communications industry.

Scratch, Sniff & Learn was designed to showcase innovations in health marketing communications. Seven organizations presented recently developed innovations designed to advance mobile health, public health, gamification in healthcare, and more.

Attendees were then able to experience (or scratch and sniff) these innovations first-hand during the event. Instrat Global Health Solutions and The Anadach Group have come together to create One World Dr., a mobile health based platform which continuously monitors patient conditions and then provides specific tools for physicians and medical workers to respond appropriately to the patient's needs via SMS technology. The idea behind this platform is to not only encourage positive health behavior change in the patient, but also manage the patient's conditions before they become emergent. Through sending a simple text message to One World Dr., patients can ask questions and monitor health conditions in an easy and effective manner. The platform is currently being used in Nigeria and will soon expand to other countries throughout Africa.

In this podcast interview I discuss the project with Okey Okuzu, Founder and CEO of InStrat Global Health Solutions. Okey provides insight into the back story of creating One World Dr., specific accomplishments the project has seen thus far and his ideas for expanding One World Dr. in the future.

Along these lines – even if slightly passé – I have been thinking a lot lately about the spirit of the movement to release health data and invite technology developers and entrepreneurs [...]

Earlier this week, iMedia Connection published a fantastic article by Rob Key of Converseon with the provocative title: “Why we need to kill ‘social media.’” Key was not focused on semantics. Rather, he believes that too many companies, individuals and marketers are focusing on digital tactics rather than the “transformational nature of this channel.” He [...]
